The Nile river was a large source of water in Egypt, which was mainly a desert,  so the Nile River was full of plants, and animals like fish, hippos, and many birds.

The animals enabled hunting for food, and for animal skins. The nile was also a way to travel North and South in Egypt. This was for transporting goods.
Agriculture was the main reason why ancient Egyptian civilizations were so successful. The Nile river flooded each year and brought nutrients to the soil surrounding the river. The Egyptian farmers dug canals from the Nile to help irrigate their crops.
