Depends How you want to say it. For example Te conta la historia translated in english is tell you the story now if we swap the "a" from "conta" to "conte" It would be more compatible in a sentence. We could also change it to "te contare " la historia" but would be like saying Im going to tell you the story and would be like talking to someone and not applying it to a sentence And also the word "te" Would be referring to someone so "te conte Una historia" Is the most reasonable answer
