Because their genes give them their look. So if their is a mistake in their genes, they can probably turn green.

Depending on the genes, they could become green. The cat's colors are dependant on its birth mother and father, if the mother had a hint of green look and the father had more of a hint as well, the cat could most definitely come out green.
