The main reason behind the Britishers limiting the colonial settlement to no further than the Appalachian Mountains after the French and Indian war was to not anger the local or native Americans that lived on the other side of the mountain. This was also a strategy to keep the colonists in a single place, so that they could control them easily. The Proclamation of 1763 was the act and it made the colonists very angry as they did not want these restrictions placed on them. They wanted to be free and so they started the revolution for getting freedom from the British rule.
