The executive department that deals most with foreign countries is the State Department. Its function is to advice the president; represent the country in international affairs as well as to manage the nation in foreign policy issues. Further functions of the State Department are: to represent the United States at the United Nations, to negotiate agreements and treaties with foreign entities; and to implement the foreign policy of the United States. Its head is the Secretary of States who is appointed by the President of the Nation and confirmed by the Senate.
