Hailey was a typical girl at Westwood High School. She thought being in school was for being popular. She was not a nice person and didn't care about anything else. She thought being rich was normal and never thanked her parents for it, and she was very selfish and made them get things she wanted. She was a bully to the non populars and nice to the populars, and made fun of them. People didn't like Hailey, but she was liked by some people just because she was popular. She thought being rich and being popular and pretty was everything. She never cared about anything else and never thought before she did something.
One day, Hailey came home with her eyes glued to the screen like usual and ignored her parents. Her parents didn't really have a say in Hailey's life anymore because they know how annoying Kailey could get if they did. Her parents looked up and said 'Hey' to Hailey, but all she was concentrated was on getting 500 likes on Instagram on her picture she recently posted. She went upstairs and went on her typical afternoon, which was snap chat more and don't do homework. She had Cs, but she didn't care. Surely someone would allow her into a college for a modeling agency or something, right? Hailey was listening to music when she heard a voice. She took her earbuds out and she sighed in annoyance when she heard that her parents disturbed her again. For saying something little as going to the supermarket. 'Ugh, go all ya want.' Hailey said, and rolled her eyes at how annoying her parents could be.
Hours passed by and her parents were not home. Of course, Hailey didn't notice. She was over the instagram like thing and was now on to snap chatting his boyfriend. The home phone ran the same time she giggled at something he said. She got up her bed and went to the living room where she picked up the phone just to hear commotion in the background.
'Who is this, I don't like telemarketers, go away.' Hailey yelled, and she was just about to hang up when she heard the caller say something about her parents.
'They're in the hospital, Intensive Care Unit. They have been injured in a deadly car accident.' After that, Hailey's life changed.
10 hours later, Hailey saw her parents for the last time in the morgue. Zipped up in the depressing black bags and cloudy room. Hailey cried for the first time in her life. Never when her friend pushed her off a swing, never when she got caught for drinking in a party. The nurse came in and told Hailey that since she was 18, she gets full ownership of what their parents left behind. She bawled and bawled and cried. Her parents are dead. What would she want Hailey to do?
Hailey went through the times when her parents talked to Hailey. Barely any, she noticed, and cried again for how selfish she was. She was determined to change that. She noticed that she probably was a brat to everybody.
She cried every day through that day, wishing she had one day to at least tell them that she loved her. They were gone forever.
To Hailey now, money don't mean anything to her. In fact, she rather wanted her parents back than be rich. At least she would not be lonely even if she was outside, broke to death. She stared to notice the small details and even decided to get her grade up. This year, she started an organization for Drunk Driving, which was how her parents died. She decided to make her faily a good role model and started getting good grades and isolating from her friends to focus on what her parents would've wanted Hailey to do. Succeed.
