The correct answer is: A. The Council of Trent reaffirmed traditional doctrine, tried to end abuses, and established new schools.

When Martin Luther initiated the Protestant Reforme, the answer of the Catholic Church was the Counter Reformation also known as Catholic Reformation. It began with the Council of Trent in the years between 1545 and 1563.

It isn’t true that with the Council the Catholic Church ended Protestatism in Europe, one of the purpose of the Council was to counterbalance the Protestant Reforme, but it spread quickly in Europe. It isn’t true that the Catholic Church incorporated Lutero’s teachings, it was the opposite, the Catholic Church reaffirmed its traditional doctrine. It isn’t true that Catholics and Protestants cooperate, they were very strict with the dogmas that they professed.
