Una de las ventajas de las tareas es que permiten a los alumnos seguir practicando en su tiempo libre ciertas tecnicas que les van a servir en su vida académica futura, pero por otro lado, estas tareas pueden interferir con la vida de algunos estudiantes (que no tengan tiempo libre por algun motivo) en forma negativa, por lo tanto esta herramienta de estudio debe usarse de forma controlada.

La tarea

Si bien la tarea constituye un método eficaz para recordar temas vistos en clase o permitir a los estudiantes que realicen búsquedas autónomas para prepararse a un nuevo tema que se abordará en clase, en muchas ocasiones dicha tarea es excesiva y conlleva numerosos debilidades practicas.

Cuando la tarea es excesiva, el estudiante no tiene tiempo para pasar con su familia, amigos o para disfrutar de sus pasatiempos, lo cual genera una carga de estrés debido a la falta de esparcimiento. Por otra parte, si dicha tarea no está enfocada con un objetivo dentro de la clase, su realización significará simplemente llenar una hoja con información.

Sin embargo, se debe tener en cuenta que las virtudes de una tarea desarrollada de forma correcta son amplias: permite al estudiante realizar búsquedas autónomas, mejora su ortografía y lectura, y en caso de que haya retroalimentación, permitirá un conocimiento más duradero.
