Although the monsoons may bring severe storm, they are considered necessary in India because the rain is required for making the irrigating fields fertile for the crops to grow. The rain water is also stored in several places of India for watering the crops in the dry season. During the rainy season the river banks of India also get fertile soils brought down by the rivers from the high lands. These soils are very fertile and is helpul for irrigating crops. The rain water is also stored for the purpose of drinking in places where there is trouble arranging good quality drinking water during the dry season.
