relying on a resource economy is risky especially when a prices could go down, natural disaster could occur or diseases could destroy your main export and economy; then the country would have nothing to rely on (sell). The workers would no longer have a job and the economy would crash. Nation are trying to diversify their exports to prevent this from happening.
