I believe it is heating. Igneous rocks are created by the cooling of magma also known as lava, there for, in order to create a rock, it must first be heated.
Hope this helps! :)

Igneous rock are formed when molten rock are cools and crystallizes, in volcanoes   at surface of the earth or inside the crust. All molten rock ( magma ) are formed in the lower crust or upper mantle, because of the high temperature are there. All these are process are responsible for formation of igneous rocks.

What is igneous rock?

Igneous rocks are formed when molten rocks are cools to a solid state.

Lava is a molten rock (magma) which are flowing out by volcanoes. As igneous rock are formed from molten rock ( magma ) and by this process rock cycle are starting.  So igneous rock are also called as primary rocks.

The size of igneous rock may indicate the rate at which molten rock ( magma ) are cooled to form igneous rock. Size of igneous are also depend upon number of gases and chemical which are available in molten rock.

Larger igneous rock indicates that the cooling rate  of molten rock (magma) are slowly. While smaller igneous rock indicates that the cooling rate of molten rock (magma) are faster.

Characteristics of igneous rock:-

1- The igneous rocks doesn't contain any fossil.

2- Most igneous rocks contains more than one type of mineral.

3- Igneous rocks are either glassy or coarse.

4- Igneous rock are generally not react with acid.
