Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication which has the features of high blood pressure and often, significant levels of protein in the urine. This condition usually starts after 20 weeks of pregnancy in women that has a normal blood pressure. Signs and symptoms of preeclampsia include; swelling (edema) especially in the hands and face, kidney dysfunction, severe headaches, unexpected weight gain, reduced urine output, and impaired liver function.
