A prime number is a number that does not have any factors(except for 1). For example, 11 is a prime number because if you divide it, the quotient will not be a whole number. 12 is not a prime number because it can be divided by 2,3,4,6.

Prime numbers are numbers that cannot be divided evenly by a whole number, examples of prime numbers are:
1,3,5,7,13,17,23
You can divide these numbers, but they will not come out whole
