In these regions, cold oceanic currents go parallel to the coast and produce heavy fogs drifting over deserts. Although the humidity of coastal deserts can be high, rainfall remains fairly low. Examples of coastal deserts include the Atacama Desert (Chile) and the Namib Desert (Namibia).
