An oil company fills 1 over 10 of a tank in 1 over 5 hour. At this rate, which expression can be used to determine how long it will take for the tank to fill completely?
A. 1 over 5 ⋅ 10 hours
B. 1 over 10 ⋅ 5 hours
C. 1 over 5 ⋅ 1 over 10 hour
D. 5 ⋅ 10 hours
If 1/10 of the tank is filled in 1/5 of an hour, then multiplying both of those by 5 you would get 5/10 of a tank being filled in a full hour, or answer choice A. Hope this helps! By the way, sorry for the incorrect answer a couple years ago :)
The correct answer should be A If it takes [tex] \frac{1}{5} [/tex] hours (which is 24 minutes) to fill one tenth of the tank, then to fill 10 tanks, it would be [tex] \frac{1}{5} [/tex] * 10 and you get a total of 2 hours to fill the tank.
