The most robust way of knowing whether scientific information is reliable is by seeing if it can be replicated or whether it was replicated in the past.

Another thing you can do is see whether a certain hypothesis thas has been tested and seemed to work in science, will actually work in real life scenarios. This will tell you whether the scientific information will be reliable.

Another possible thing is checking who was sponsoring the study out of which certain scientific information has supposedly come out. If the discovery was made independently, without a major sponsor in the form of a company with an agenda, it's more likely that you can believe the findings that have been supposedly found.
