Protestantism is one of the main branches of Christianity that includes Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. Generally, it is the the entire form of Christian faith, beliefs and practices that comes from religious, ecclesiological, doctrines and political declaration of the Protestant Reformation. Protestantism is derived from the "protestant" that is derived from the Latin word "protestatio" which means declaration. Nowadays, the term Protestantism is already been used to describe the Western Christianity that is no longer under papal authority. It is a form of protestation.
