Why did the North and South come to such different views of slavery in the years prior to the Civil War?

This is an AP DBQ prompt so even if you can help me with trying to write this essay, it would be much appreciated :)

The North was a more industrial region, and the South was more agricultural since their whole society depended on the success of cotton. The South needed slaves to help harvest the cotton and such, while the North did not need slavery for anything. It pretty much came down to the difference in the regional economy.
