What are the three main volcano shapes? What are the elements that all the different volcano types have in common? Describe each of these elements.

Respuesta :

the three most common volcano shapes are shield, cinder and composite cone.

Explanation:

The shapes or volcanoes are (as seen in the image I added):

  • Shield: they are big flat shaped in the middle with slopes created by lava as it flows, tall and broad, some examples are Mount Etna and volcanoes in Hawaii
  • Composite: they are steep, tall and the can have multiple channels to the surface, this makes their eruptions dangerous and explosive, some examples are the St. Helens and Mt. Fuji.
  • Cinder cones: they have symmetrical cone shape, they are created from a single opening where magma is thrown into the air, an example is the Paricutin in Mexico.
  • Lava domes: they have the shape of a dome, they are shorter and formed when extremely viscous lava erupts. They are usually extinct and one example is the Chait'en lava dome.

They have in common that all of them are formed by lava eruptions and the subsequential cooling of the magma.
