so what you can do is subtract 2/5 and 4/9 from 1. 1-2/5 is 3/5. the 3/5-4/9= you have to get a common denominator so it would be 45, so 27/45-20/45 is 7/45. so if 7/45=15 rolls, how many did he make? just do some division, divide both by 7, so 1/45=15/7 or 2 1/15. multiply that by 45 and you will have 93.       SAM MADE 93 ROLLS

The remainder is 3/5

x = 2/5x + 4/9 * 3/5x + 15

x = 2/5x + 12/45x + 15

 

then, multiply by 45 to eliminate the fractions and we will get:
45x = 9(2x) + 12x + 45(15)
45x = 18x + 12x + 675
45x = 30x + 675
45x – 30x = 675
15x = 675

x= 675/15
x = 45 rolls total
