One important role that third parties often play in US national elections is that although they rarely support a winning candidate, they often allow people to voice important, yet unpopular opinions, since they can do so without fear of it really impacting their chances of getting elected. 

The third parties in the United States national elections play the vital role of  breaking up major parties' dominance. The electoral system in the US cosnsits of two main parties. Nevertheless, third parties exists whith the purpose of  ensuring that the electorate who will cast their ballots have other options to choose. Furthermore, they also raise awareness for different issues to deal with and provide different perspectives, which the major parties should tackle.
