The amount of rhubarb in the original recipe is 3 1/2 cups. Using what you know of whole numbers and what you know of fractions explain how you could triple that mixed number

Respuesta :

Well first things first is you got to turn 3 1/2 into a mixed number. All i did was multiply 3x2 and added 1 which gave me 7 so that was my numerator. And for my denominator i kept the 2. So all you got to do now is multiply the fraction by 3 and make sure you put a 1 under 3. It gives you 21/2 so just divide that since its improper.  And then your answer would be 10 1/2. Hope this helped you!

Answer:

[tex]10\frac{1}{2}[/tex] cups.

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount of rhubarb in the original recipe is = [tex]3\frac{1}{2}[/tex] cups.

                                                                             = [tex]\frac{7}{2}[/tex] cups

Using this amount we have to triple that mixed number.

So we have to multiply this fraction by 3.

[tex]\frac{7}{2}[/tex] × 3

= [tex]\frac{21}{2}[/tex]

= [tex]10\frac{1}{2}[/tex] cups

We will get [tex]10\frac{1}{2}[/tex] cups when we triple the number of [tex]3\frac{1}{2}[/tex]
