it could be said that because of the deteriorating conditions, Penn decided to emigrate. So in 1677, a group of Quakers (with Penn) purchased the colonial province of West Jersey (today known as New Jersey). He was planning to extend Quakers´region. He became the proprietor of a big track of land and gained sovereignty over the territory.
