The Indian Removal Act was signed by President Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830. The law authorized the president to negotiate with southern Indian tribes for their removal to federal territory west of the Mississippi River in exchange for their lands.
Hello there! Andrew Jackson signed off the Indian Removal Act and there was something called the "Trail of Tears", which affected Native Americans greatly. They had to move out to the West, because there were new settlements being made and the Indians weren't wanted. It was a sad time in History, as many of them died going West. It was negatively affecting them and their culture was being swept out. Even today, there are not many Native Americans left.
