It not only compares the numbers of each group to each other, but also shows the data in comparison to the whole. A map is just a bad idea. A line graph also is not effective because you're not tracking the growth of something. A bar graph is the second best answer because it will demonstrate the difference in numbers. The only problem is that it doesn't do a good job showing how the numbers compare to the class as a whole: what percentage of each learner type is in the class.
