In the time era of this story, the 1960’s, feminism and women’s empowerment is something that had just started to plant roots in the minds of some strong women. A romanticized image is placed on men and is retained in any young girls mind by movies, stories and books. If a man doesn’t follow this image then it is common for a young woman to think that it is because she is doing something wrong to make him act that way.
