Your original equation is x + (-2) > 3
That is also the same as x - 2 > 3

I prefer the second equation so I don’t get my addition and subtraction of the negative number confused.

You want to get x by itself. You need to ADD 2 to both sides of the inequality.
Your answer would be : x > 5
