There are 3 consecutive even numbers. the sum of the first number and 2 times the third number is 46 more than the second number. what is the third number

let x be the first number 
let x+2 be the second 
and x +4 be the third 

so the sum of the first number and 2 times the third number is 46 more than the second number which mean 

x + 2(x+4) = 46 + (x+2) 

x + 2x+8 = 46+x+2 

3x + 8 = 48 +x 

2x = 40 

x= 20    

the third number is x+4  = 20+ 4 = 24
