Zlata's Diary, written by Zlata Filipovic, is a book whose historical context is the Bosnian war. The main location is represented by Sarajevo, and Zlata, the author, started to write her diary when she was in fifth grade.
The book is based on Zlata´s daily chronicles, and how the war increasingly impacts her city, Sarajevo.
The diary contains countless scenes that depict the horrors of war viewed from the innocence of a child.
Zlata's diary has also been compared to "The Diary of Anne Frank", because both manuscripts take place during conflicts somehow motivated by racism and ethnic differences.
