The consquences of the War of 1812 were the following:

  • Nationalism increased in the US
  • The British suffered a crushing defeat in the Battle of New Orleans
  • The Treaty of Ghent restored prewar boundaries.

The War of 1812 was a conflict between the US and UK and their respective allies that lasted from 1812 to 1815. Most US citizens opposed the war.

In August 1814 peace negotiations started and the Treaty of Ghent was drafted and finally signed in December 1814, although the peace did not actually reach the war scenario until same time later. British military forced aim to conquer Louisiana, but were defeted in the Battle of New Orleans in January 1815. Such victory was regarded as the restoration of the American honour and enhaced patriotic attitudes.

Finally, the terms of the Treaty of Ghent played their role and the war ended in February 1815 with no boundary changes.
