Frederick Douglass was an African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman. He was the first African American citizen to hold a high U.S. government rank. After escaping from salivary Frederick devoted his life to abolishing slavery. When slavery was abolished he advocated for civil rights and the advancement of the African American race.
