The proportion of sand, silt, and clay in a soil's composition determines its texture. It depends on the proportions of soil particles.
The right answer is particles' size.
The texture of a soil corresponds to the distribution in this soil of minerals by size category (in fact, diameter of the supposedly spherical particles) regardless of the nature and composition of these minerals. The texture of the soil does not take into account limestone and organic matter.
The particles are classified in the following way, according to their diameter: blocks, pebbles and gravel (diameter> 2 mm) are classified separately.
The actual particle size is fine earth.
Sands:> 50 μm
Silt: from 50 μm to 2 μm
Clays: <2 μm
