Listeria is a disease that can be dangerous if infecting an immunocompromised individual. When an infection happens, the white blood cells will clump together to fight the pathogen. But, sometimes the immune cells are not capable enough to remove the pathogen, causing it to form a granuloma.
Listeria monocytogenes infection in neonates can cause the immune cells to form a granuloma, called granulomatosis infantiseptica.
