When using your senses to answer scientific questions, you are using qualitative data. When using tools and measurements, you are using quantitative data. Qualitative data can be more subjective, and sometimes it may not be too reliable. Quantitative data, or data gathered using tools and other reliable methods of measurements, are more reliable.
