EARWAX can build up in the ear canal and block the pathway of sound.
The ear canal is divided into three different regions: the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear. Hearing occurs when sound waves inside the ear structures are converted into nerve signals which the brain recognizes as sound. Hearing loss can occur as a result of gradual build up of earwax in the ear canal which blocks the canal and prevents the conduction of sound waves.
