In the third stage of the process mitosis the chromatids get separated and move toward opposite ends of the cell. Mitosis is type of cell division in which one cell divides to produce two new genetically identical cells. The third stage of mitosis is also referred to as anaphase. It is the stage in which sister chromatids are pulled apart and microtubules, along with motor proteins, move the chromosomes to opposite poles of the cell.
