Factory conditions were so bad because there were no laws in place to ensure a safe workplace. Children often worked factory jobs too, seeming there were no laws in place having them go to school.
Factory conditions were terrible due to the fact that not many people cared about the workers in the factories. They worked in bad conditions, often getting hurt or even killed. They didn't get enough pay, nor hours. Also, during that time, they didn't have all of those machines that made their job easier so they had to work harder, causing more accidents.
