Belshazzar showed disrespect when he drank wine out of the Temple cups during the feast.
The temple cups were taken from the temple in Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar's father.
The temple cups were deemed holy in Jerusalem, but when Belshazzar used these cups to drink wine, he showed disrespect to the value of the Temple cups. He further disrespected the holiness of the Temple cups when he used them to praise the gods of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood and stone.
