The exchanges of agricultural technology between Europeans and Native Americans helped Jamestown survive, because the English settlers in Jamestown had no food supply and were unable to work the land. They then exchanged technology(arms) for help growing food and for a steady food supply with the Powhatan Confederacy (different Native American tribes which lived in the Virginia area), otherwise the settlers would not have been able to make it through the winter.
