In at least one hundred and fifty words, explain the importance of point of view in "I Stand Here Ironing".

Respuesta :

I stand here ironing by Tille Olson shows the point of view of the iron as it glides upon the dress that was once worn by the narrator's daughter Emily. The iron, in first person point of view,  hisses and steams as it explains the interaction between Emily and her mother over the course of her childhood. The iron, being subjected to many wrinkles,  is not a reliable narrator but it does give us a unique point of view as a witness to the feelings of guilt and sadness displayed by Emily's mother.

Answer:

I think that the view is an important thing in the short story "I stand here Ironing". The view is told in the mothers perspective and this can change a lot about how a character is feeling or how the guilt she feels. If this was told in the daughters perspective, she would describe the place she went to and how it had looked. I think its better if the mother had the perspective of the story because she can tell what she felt when she gave Emily away and the guilt she had and all the hard work she had to put in for her family.
