when union workers refuse to work due to bad work conditions, in other words due to contractual disagreements, this is called a strike.
Sometimes when the union is big and the work is important, such as air transport, such strikes paralyze the whole country.

The term that is used when union workers refuse to work due to contractual disagreements is called strike. It is the stoppage of the work because employees refuse to report to work in order to show protest to the company or the management's decisions. The employees have the right to conduct a strike however, it is bound by several limitations that is the reason why not all strikes are legal. A strike can only be legal if the reason for conducting it is economic or against and unfair labor practice by the employers.
