The answer is cerebral cortex or hemisphere. The area of the brain that is responsible for higher mental processes such as thinking and language is cerebral cortex.
EXPLANATION
The cerebral cortex is some kind of thin layer of the brain that covers the outer portion of the cerebrum. The cerebral cortex is covered by meninges and can also be called the gray matter. The cortex’s color is gray because the nerves in this area lack insulation. So, it makes the other parts of the brain seems whiter. The cerebral cortex also covers the cerebellum.
The cerebral cortex is composed of folded bulges (gyri) that can create deep fissures or furrows (sulci). The folds that are in the brain add to its surface area. This also increases the quantity of information that can be processed as the gray matter also increases.
The cerebrum is the part of the human brain that is highly developed and is responsible for perceiving, producing, thinking, and also understanding language. A lot of the information that we know occurs at the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is known to have four lobes with a specific function to each of the lobes. These lobes consist of frontal lobes, temporal lobes, parietal lobes, and occipital lobes.
The cerebral cortex has several important functions for the body, including determining intelligence, personality, motor function, planning and organization, processing sensory information, language processing, and also touch sensation.
