Well the Israelis were basically given the Palestinian land soon after WWII, in 1948, and renamed it Israel. There was a flooding of Jews coming in and claiming Israel to be there home; problem was that there already people living there, the Palestinians. Many of these Palestinians, including Fawaz Turki, were kicked out of their homes. Fawaz Turki spent his childhood as a refugee. If you look at the definition of colonizers, it means people who came to settle from somewhere else (simply put). People came from all over the world and moved to the newly formed Israel and dubbed themselves "Israelis".
