The Mexican-American War was a war between Mexico and America lasting from 1846 to 1848. The conflict stemmed from the annexation of Texas and various, disputed land claims.

The Mexican-American War resulted in the addition of territorial New Mexico to the U.S.

The Mexican–American War was an armed conflict waged by the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848.  

Texas achieved its independence from Mexico in 1836. Initially, the United States was reluctant to incorporate it into the union. The Mexican government was also encouraging border raids and warning that any attempt at annexation would result in a war.
