The expression 53(1+x) represents the total cost of a meal including the tip. What do the different parts of the expression represent? Drag the parts of the expression into the boxes to match each description.

Respuesta :

53(1 + x)

the 53 is the cost of the meal without the tax

the x is gonna be the percentage of the tip u want to leave...in decimal form

so lets say u are going to leave a 5% tip.....5% = 0.05
ur equation would be 53(1 + 0.05) = 53(1.05) = 55.65...cost of meal and tip

⇒The expression which represents the total cost of a meal including the tip

                    =53×(1+x)

 Using Distributive property of Multiplication with respect to Addition

                  =53+53 x

          [tex]=53 +53 \times \frac{100x}{100}[/tex]

                                        --------------------------------------(1)

If p% is the amount of tip given ,and if A is the Actual Bill , then it can be written as

       = A +A×p%-------------(2)

Equating (1) and (2)

[tex]A+A\times \frac{p}{100}=53+53 \times \frac{100x}{100}\\\\A=53\\\\ \frac{p}{100}= \frac{100x}{100}\\\\p=100x[/tex]

Total Cost of Meal =$53

Amount used for tip=$ 100x
