In May 1773, Parliament passed a law that made the price of tea so low that even with the tax it was cheaper than the tea the colonist were buying from the Netherlands. This just made the colonists mad and ships were not allowed at the some ports. They were allowed to dock at the Boston port. The colonists boarded the British ships and dumped the tea. parliament heard of this and closed Boston Harbor to all trade until they paid for the tea. In October 1775 nearly 50 women signed a treaty to boycott English tea.
