Osmosis is an example of passive transport. How might the results have changed in this lab if the gummy bear had been able to use active transport to move sugars out?

Respuesta :

Well, water makes a gummy bear expand due to the hypotonic environment of the gummy bear (that's where the sugar comes into play). If the gummy bear could "pump" sugars out, the water wouldn't see the inside of the gummy bear as hypotonic and wouldnt enter the gummy bear, therefore the gummy bear would remain the same size and may actually lose volume since the outside of the gummy bear would be hypertonic. I know this may seem confusing but I took Biology last year and you'll get the hang of it. The internet is your best friend. Hope this helped.
