Schizophrenia is chronic mental disorder characterized by distortion of the perception of reality via Auditory (Hearing), visual (sight), tactile (Touch), olfactory (smell), and gustatory (taste) hallucinations (pretty much all five senses). These hallucinations distort a person grasp of reality, and interfere with cognitive, physical, and sociological functions. One of the more interesting outward symptoms include word salad (jumbling of sentences and words), lack of desire for motivation or relationships, and psychosis. Schizophrenia can be induced using drugs or there are those that just get it, there even being some genetic predisposition. There is treatment for the disorder, however the complications of the disorder can make it really hard to remain compliant with taking those drugs, making some 20% of those infected able to function normally.
