The February Revolution in Russia was not an organized revolution, but the overthrow of the Tzars and the monarchy of Russia. The loyalists of the monarchy were the police and gendarmes who soon deserted and socialists and leftists took over the government. The October Revolution was when the provisional government (made up of Socialists) was overthrown by the Bolsheviks or Communists and this was done through a military community which slowly took over government buildings.

The February Revolution removed the tsar from power, while the October Revolution removed the provisional government from power.
