Hawks, also known as war hawks, are those policymakers and individuals who believe the US must intervene abroad to ensure peace at home. They stand in contrast with the doves, individuals and policymakers who seek to end conflict abroad. However, it must be understood that while doves dislike conflict abroad, they are mixed on their opinions as to whether or not the US should take part in world affairs (providing aid, trade, and diplomacy abroad).
